It was almost embarrassing.
There was I, sore feet, tired.
All I wanted was a cappuccino.
I stood at the door of “Cafe Rouge”
and was ignored.
Maybe my dress wasn’t quite smart enough
or I looked too desperate.
(well I felt desperate.)
Shifting my weight from foot to foot
I decided to admit defeat
and left.

But they say the meek shall inherit
and in my case I did
for I found “Wall Street” further along
(a classy little restaurant)
and they gave me a cappuccino
at half the price I would have paid.

So I had two.
