you smiled your devious smile
you whispered your poison in my ear
you twisted my words and emotions
and filled my life with empty promises.
you used my trusting heart
you played with me as you would a toy
you used the words love and faith
and blinded me with your lies.
i see now through my tears
the manner in which you deceived me
but what i can’t understand
is how i can still love you
when i hate you more than myself.
